Connect your apps, automate your workflows.

Activepieces is an open-source (MIT) workflow automation platform that replaces tools like Zapier, Make and n8n. Build visual workflows connecting your apps — when something happens, trigger actions across your stack. Hosted forms, webhooks, hundreds of integrations, and sandboxed execution, all on your own ReefOffice server.

What Activepieces does

Activepieces is a no-code workflow builder that lets you connect your apps and build automations visually. Create "when this happens, do that" workflows — send an email when a Dolibarr invoice is paid, create a Nextcloud folder when a new Grist record is added, or trigger a Hermes agent task on a schedule. It is MIT-licensed, chosen over n8n for its permissive licence that allows managed service operation.

Automate without code, on your own server

1

Visual workflow builder

Build automations with a drag-and-drop visual editor. Hundreds of pre-built integrations connect your apps — triggers, actions, conditions, loops and scheduling, all without writing code.

2

Hosted forms

Create public forms that feed directly into your workflows — order forms, contact forms, lead capture. Submissions trigger automations automatically.

3

Webhook triggers

Expose webhook endpoints (unguessable nanoid URLs) for external services to trigger workflows. Your customer's bank, your payment provider, your calendar — anything with a webhook can start an automation.

4

Sandboxed execution

Every workflow step runs in a V8 sandbox with strict network isolation. No private IP access, no link-local/metadata egress. Your automations are isolated from your infrastructure.

5

RAG shim for Open WebUI

Activepieces integrates with Open WebUI via a local OpenAI-compatible endpoint — enabling "chat with your documents" recipes and other AI-powered automations that connect your knowledge base to your workflows.

6

Scheduled and event triggers

Run workflows on a cron schedule, on webhook calls, on form submissions, or triggered by events from any connected app. Combine triggers for complex automation sequences.

How it's deployed

Three containers, full isolation

Activepieces runs as three Docker containers — the application (UI + API + worker combined), PostgreSQL and Redis — on a private Docker network with strict isolation. The builder UI is protected by Authentik forward-auth; webhook and form endpoints are public by design. Execution runs in V8 sandboxes with network isolation. All data is encrypted at rest and included in daily backups.

The automation layer of your office

Activepieces connects every ReefOffice app. Watch Nextcloud folders and trigger workflows when new files appear. Create Grist records on form submission. Send payment reminders from Dolibarr on a schedule. Power "chat with your documents" recipes in Open WebUI. Trigger Hermes agent tasks for AI-powered workflow steps. Your entire stack, automated, on your own server.

Common questions

How is Activepieces different from n8n? +

Activepieces is MIT-licensed, which allows offering it as part of a paid managed service like ReefOffice. n8n uses the Sustainable Use License, which forbids this. Functionally, both are visual workflow builders with similar integration libraries.

Can I import workflows from n8n or Zapier? +

There is no direct import tool. Workflows must be recreated in Activepieces. ReefOffice provides starter recipes for common patterns — document processing, email notifications, CRM sync — to reduce the migration effort.

Are public webhooks and forms secure? +

Yes. Webhook endpoints use unguessable nanoid URLs. Form submissions can include CAPTCHA or email verification steps. Execution sandboxing prevents workflow steps from accessing internal network resources.
