Technical detail

How it works

Listmonk is a single Go binary with PostgreSQL backend. On ReefOffice it runs as a Docker container behind nginx TLS termination. Sending is done through SMTP relay — you configure your sending domain and Listmonk queues and sends campaigns through the ReefOffice SMTP relay with automatic bounce processing.

How it fits your stack

Listmonk integrates with your ReefOffice stack through Activepieces (trigger campaigns from Dolibarr invoice events or Grist record updates) and Hermes (AI-generated newsletter content). Subscribers can be imported from Nextcloud contacts or Dolibarr third parties.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my existing subscriber list? +

Yes. Listmonk supports CSV import with custom field mapping. Double opt-in is automatically triggered for imported subscribers. ReefOffice can assist with migration from Mailchimp, Sendinblue, MailerLite or other platforms during onboarding.

Do I need my own sending domain? +

Yes. For reliable email delivery, Listmonk needs a dedicated sending domain with properly configured SPF, DKIM and DMARC DNS records. ReefOffice includes SMTP relay setup and helps you configure the required DNS records for your domain.

What sending volume is supported? +

Volume depends on your SMTP relay configuration. For moderate volumes (thousands of subscribers, weekly campaigns) the included SMTP relay handles delivery reliably. Higher-volume sending can use external SMTP providers like Amazon SES, Mailgun or SendGrid configured through the ReefOffice SMTP relay.
