Fully client-side processing
Every PDF operation runs in your browser via WebAssembly. Files never touch any server — not even yours. The container is read-only and stateless, serving only static assets.

PDF Tools is a browser-based PDF utility suite powered by BentoPDF. Merge, split, OCR, compress, convert, rotate, watermark and sign PDFs — all processed client-side in your browser. Files never leave your machine, no data is uploaded to any server, and the container is completely stateless.
PDF Tools is a collection of PDF utilities that run entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. The server serves only static assets — every PDF operation (merge, split, OCR, compress, convert, rotate, watermark, sign) happens client-side. Your documents are never uploaded, stored or processed on any server. Zero data leaves your machine.

Combine multiple PDFs into one document, or extract specific pages from a larger file. Drag and drop to reorder pages before merging.
Make scanned PDFs searchable with built-in OCR. Text is extracted client-side — no document upload, no cloud OCR service, no privacy concern.
Compress PDFs for email, convert between formats, rotate misoriented pages, add watermarks, and sign documents electronically. All in one interface, all on your machine.
How it's deployed
PDF Tools runs as a single Docker container (256 MB RAM, 1 CPU) with a read-only rootfs and no persistent volumes. The container serves only static HTML, JS and WASM assets. All PDF processing happens in your browser. The container is proxied through nginx with Authentik forward-auth. Restart or replace it at any time — there is no state to preserve.
PDF Tools is the quick utility layer of your ReefOffice workspace. Use it for one-off PDF tasks — sign a contract, compress an attachment, OCR a scan. For long-term document storage and organisation, Paperless is connected right next to it on your server.
No. All PDF processing happens in your browser using WebAssembly. The file you select is read by your browser and processed locally. Nothing is uploaded — not to ReefOffice's server, not to any third party.
Merge, split, OCR, compress, convert (to/from various formats), rotate pages, add watermarks, and sign documents electronically. The tool is regularly updated with new operations.
PDF Tools is designed for one-session tasks. Your browser keeps the document in memory while the tab is open. For long-term document storage, save the result to your computer or upload it to Nextcloud. Paperless handles permanent archiving.
