Who runs ReefOffice

You are being asked to put your files, your passwords, your invoices and your client records onto a server run by someone you have not met. You should know who that is.

One person, named

ReefOffice is built and operated by Robin Angelé, trading as Robin Angelé EI / Robin4consulting, a French micro-entreprise (entrepreneur individuel) registered in Malakoff, near Paris. SIRET 99906226800019. There is no team page because there is no team — administrative access to client servers is not shared, delegated or subcontracted.

That is a real trade-off and it is better said out loud than discovered. A one-person business answers the phone faster and cannot be acquired out from under you. It also has one person's working hours. Everything below exists so that the second part is not your problem.

Why it exists

Small client-service businesses ended up renting their entire operation from companies that can read it, change the terms, or lose interest. Files in one American cloud, invoices in another, passwords in a third, automation in a fourth — each with its own login, its own price rise, and its own privacy policy nobody read.

ReefOffice is the argument that a small business can have the same tools on a server it actually owns, in the EU, without hiring a sysadmin. The software is open source and has been for years. What was missing was somebody to run it properly.

What happens if I stop

The honest question about a one-person supplier, and the reason the architecture is what it is. Four things are true by design, not by promise:

  • Your server is yours. It runs on a VPS with standard NixOS and open-source applications — no ReefOffice-only software, nothing to reverse-engineer. Any competent administrator can take it over. See the stack
  • Your data leaves whenever you want. Export is a documented, self-service operation in open formats. There are no exit fees and no notice period. How backups work
  • Your backups are yours. On zero-knowledge mode the encryption key is held only by you, and ReefOffice cannot read your backups even if compelled to. Security details
  • The recipe is public. The configuration that builds a ReefOffice server is open source, so the way your machine was assembled does not disappear with the person who assembled it. See the stack

Where it is today

Honestly: early. ReefOffice is in a pilot phase, taking a small number of first clients so that each one gets set up properly. The pricing page shows real prices rather than a form, the architecture is deployed and monitored, and the parts that are not finished are marked as not finished. If you want the current state of anything specific, ask and you will get the real answer.
